The TCU Department of Computer Science was created in 1981. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Computer Information Technology. The department has active student chapters of professional organizations: the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society, and Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE).
In order to maintain a quality program, the department’s curriculum is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that it reflects the latest advances in this rapidly changing field. To achieve this, the Department of Computer Science adheres closely to the recommendations of professional organizations such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society.
To prepare students to be lifelong learners and responsible practitioners of computer science in a rapidly changing world of technology.
