Minors offered by the Department of Computer Science

Minor in Computer Science

Students must fulfill 18 hours of computer science, including COSC 10403 (Introduction to Programming), COSC 20203 (Techniques in Programming), COSC 20803 (Data Structures), COSC 30203 (Computer System Fundamentals) and an additional six hours selected from COSC 30000 and 40000 level courses.

Minor in Computer Information Technology

The minor in computer information technology requires 18 hours of COSC and CITE courses, including COSC 10403 (Introduction to Programming) or COSC10503 (Intro Prog for Engr & Science); CITE 30103 (Unix/Linux System Administration), CITE 30133 (Adv System & Network Administration). CITE 10003 cannot be applied toward the minor.

The minor in data science requires 18 hours of COSC courses, including COSC 10403 (Introduction to Programming), COSC 20203 (Techniques in Programming), COSC 20803 (Data Structures), COSC 30603 (Database Systems), COSC 40023 (Data Mining and Visualization); and an additional course from COSC 40403 (Analysis of Algorithms), COSC 40503 (Artificial Intelligence), or COSC 40703 (High Performance and Parallel Computing).
