Dr. James R. Comer
My major research interests are in software engineering, programming languages, data structures, and computer science education. Have served as a consultant in a variety of areas in software engineering.
I teach courses in the C and Java programming languages, Data Structures, and Concepts of Programming Languages.
Served as Chair of the Computer Science Department (Fall, 1984 – Fall, 1997, Summer, 2008 – present). Served as faculty co-advisor for the Department’s Honor Society (UPE), and as the faculty co-advisor for the Department’s Student Club (the CSS). Served on the International Executive Council of UPE (the International Honor Society for the Computing Sciences), Associate Director and Director of Regional Contests for the ICPC (the International Collegiate Programming Contest), served as a program evaluator for: ACE (American Council on Education, DETC(Distance Education and Training Council), and CSAB (Computer Science Accreditation Board).
